Spring styling from Vogue Paris, if it refuses to be beautiful in New York I will just have to escape through exquisite editorials.

fancypants

h&m blazer, j. crew shirt, vintage levi's, Madewell boots, gifted bag

I saw this tagged on a metal door thing and knew I had to take my picture in front of it. Not that I think I look particularly fancy, but I just kind of love things with arrows and statements directed at me. These tights are from my old ballet days and I was kind of getting sick of black tights to be honest, as well as grey skies and endless bouts of rain and wetness. If modern saying holds true we will have a LOT of may flowers around here. Anyway, there were quite of bit of random men who commented to ask if I was a dancer to which I replied with a smile "in a former life."

windswept

target sweatshirt, american apparel skirt

This skirt seemed like the perfect thing to wear on a rather blustery day. The chiffon flows perfectly in the wind and makes every step I take seem dramatic, which I love. Have you noticed variation of this skirt popping up on my blog recently? I'm not quite sure while I like them so much as they make me look shorter than I'm willing to appear but oh well. This seemed like a pretty good outfit until it was 7:30 at night and it suddenly started pouring rain and I had to walk home. I actually almost got hit by a pizza delivery guy on a bike on my sprint to my apartment. cool. Anyway, I'm on spring break now so hopefully I can find the time to post the millions of editorials that are inspiring me right now. Yea we'll see.

cheating mother nature

crop top cut from UO dress, American Apparel Shorts

When you don't have a photographer, photograph yourself. The best part of using photobooth is I never have to leave my apartment. Which also means I can pretend it is summer outside! For those of you not in NY it should be noted that it is 56 degrees and cloudy. Thanks a lot, mother nature. Anyway I rolled out of bed a little bit ago to have no particular desire to do any of the things I'm meant to do today. Cover letters, resumes, science problem set, merchandising math, stats quiz, does this sound fun to anyone? No. But getting dressed up in a seasonally inappropriate outfit and taking lots of pictures of yourself does.

award season

Thanks to Alex of Lifestyle Geek and Jessica of The Embellished Life for giving me the Stylish Blogger Award. Just a month back to blogging and I'm already being recognized! So much mounting pressure to deliver in the future... Oh yea and I get to tell you guys 8 things about me. Once people realize 1. I live in New York and 2. I happen to share my name with a girl who was exercised they cease to find me interesting but there's really nothing I can do about that (sorry).

1. I cannot digest milk, soy, corn, almonds, coconut, and wheat.
2. I already know what you're thinking, "What can you eat then???" Lots of brown rice and beans.
3. I wanted to be an ice skater when I grew up.
4. I am a chocoholic by nature.
5. I have never and will never own a pair of Rainbows or Uggs.
6. I drink 3 cups of green tea everyday. I would buy a camelbak and suck it out of there too if it wasn't so hard to carry around.
7. I'm a cat person.
8. I make a wish at 11:11, I'd tell you what but then my wish won't come true ;)

soft like melted butter

This Burberry leather jacket has been haunting my dreams lately. It's so perfect I might as well just give up trying to find a suitable replacement within my price range, which is probably not even enough to afford the H&M remake with fake pleather. Sad but true. I wonder if they would accept payment in first born children or indentured servitude?

April Inspiration

sweaters

Alexander Wang, Monki, Cheap Monday, Vanessa Bruno, 3.1 Philip Lim, and Helmut Lang

Since it's not exactly spring in NY yet I have been rotating the 3 comfiest sweaters that I own, making everyone around me wonder if I even own other clothes. I'd love to get my hands on these to add some variety to the line up and wear it for the next month straight (this definitely also includes bedtime).

L.E.S. Artistes

joe's jeans jacket, american apparel shirt, vintage belt and levi's, gifted bag, converse allstars

These photos are from a rogue sunny day, where I decided to go on a hunt for the best chocolate chip cookies in New York. I am a chocoholic by nature so this was the perfect adventure. I decided to start my search uptown so I ended up at levain bakery, and I must say the cookie was tasty and moist but a bit overprice at $4 a pop. I'm happy I did it once but I don't know if I'd ever need to buy another.

true love

Are people still babbling about the recession? Really? In my mind, the only great investments that I can make are in my closet. And this past weekend I did just that.

I guess I've always known I would buy a pair of really nice flats sooner or later. I was in the eighth grade when I first heard of Repetto and thought I should buy a pair to wear to eighth grade graduation. While that may have been an ambitious thought given that I had no source of income at the time, it has now turned into a 7 year dream fulfilled! beautiful, no? I bought these babies at Creatures of Comfort on Mulberry Street in NoLiTa and I hope they will remain in my closet for years to come.

brown and wooly

vintage wool sweater, army surplus jacket, true religion shorts, american apparel tights

What I wore out on a bright and sunny Sunday. Sundays are my favorite day of the week because I can sleep in, make a big breakfast, lounge around, catch up on reading and television, do some shopping, and have no obligations what so ever. I love Sundays even better when there's some sunlight as well.

I found this sweater at Goodwill Outlet. I saw a bit of the sleeve poking out in one pile and pulled the thing out with all my might to reveal this beautiful vintage Brooks Brothers knit. It's 100% wool so it's definitely kind of itchy, but a nice undershirt helps to solve this problem. Both of the elbows are worn out but that just means I can put cool leather patches over them, whenever I get around to it that is.

bring the thunder

Banana Republic coat, American Apparel shirt, UO jeans, Madewell boots

As a fashion blogger, and as a human in general, much of my day's inspiration comes from the climate outside. If you live in NY/northeast you know how generally dismal this past wednesday was and given my uncontrollable desire for sunlight I sported nautical stripes (to take me out to some island to sip pina coladas through a colored straw? a girl can dream...). Anyway the weather did not improve while I was out and actually started hailing causing one more umbrella casualty cast beside on the Manhattan sidewalk.

I also realized the first 3 seasons of Keeping Up with the Kardashians is on netflix, looks like I know what I'll be doing during the next round of rainstorms.
